Living in Nova Scotia- 3weeks

As of January 16th,one day after my 22nd birthday,Ama and I have been living in Nova Scotia Canada.On the 16th morning we packed up my little car,pilled in the 2 dogs and ourselves and hit the road by 6h30 AM. We spent minimum 12hours in the car ,driving east to Nova Scotia.Since Ama doesnt have a license yet(wasn’t of much use to him in Belgium because he lived in a city with awesome public transport) I had to do all the driving and was incredibly sick of it by the time we where halfway through New Brunswick.

We finally arrived at around 9h30 pm,after several pee breaks ,food breaks and doggy-running-time breaks ,only to be greated by a snowbank half my height in front of our driveway.The front door was snowed in as well and we where unable to open it ,we had to walk around the house(in 3 feet of snow) to the backdoor before managing to get in the house.From there things sorted themselves well.We have been getting unuasual amounts of snow for this area, but aside from shovelling it everytime the snowplow burries us in, it has been fun. We fell back into childhood and built a huge snowfort in one of the snowbanks.

Ama is still waiting for some papers before he can work in Canada, and I am looking for a job.January is never the best time of year to look for a job,things are always slow in January.

On the 17th, Ama asked me to marry him!I was shocked but very very happy.We do not plan to marry for a while, the engagement has been a nice new step.I never expected to be engaged at 22 , but now that I am 22 and engaged it feels so right!We have even bought our first piece of furniture together and it feels nice(the house we lvie in belongs to my parents and is already furnished) to have OUR stuff and OUR puppy.We took Gretchen in for her last set of booster vaccins yesterday ,her final puppy vaccins,and she behaved like a little champ.

She is growing so fast,into this little jumping adorable monster.

So mainly this was just an intro post to the whole’living in Nova Scotia’ that has begun for us.Even though I am still in the same country,I feel like I am worlds away!There are a lot of things that are very different here from Quebec, its not bad,just takes getting used to.I am glad ,that way both Ama and I are out of our element and can adapt together, rather then him beingthe only one dealing with all the changes.

Now that we have internet , I might start posting in a more orderly fashion, heres me hoping!

Im growing up!Slowly ,but surely.

Its amazing how much someone can change in a short time.As I was growing up you could say I had the PeterPan syndrom.I remember going to bed in the evening and thinking too much,upsetting myself and then crying because I did not want to grow up.Unlike other children,the idea of really wasnt appealing to me!I was very happy playing Kitchen outside with my moms leftover vegetables from the garden!I was not in a hurry to get to highschool either,however I was looking forward to graduating because I was really tired of it come grade 11(we graduate in grade 11 or Secondaire 5 here in Quebec).At 18 I was not in a hurry to move out of my parents house or go to college like most kids either.I traveled instead.I went to Ireland alone for 2 weeks when I was 18,roadtripped across Canada and down the west coast of the USA when I was 19 and spent 2 weeks crossing a part of Europe when I was 20.Thats when I met Ama.I do not know exactly what we where thinking when we met and kept seeing each other.I dont think we actually thought ahead as we got more and more attached to one another.The casual attraction and liking eventually turned to love and now although I am still not in a hurry ,I am thinking more and more about things I had never expected to think about at 21.A house,a familly ,maybe even a wedding? Its crazy how things change when you meet someone you actually want to share a life with!Nowadays I want to learn to cook,I want to make a home cozy with Ama,I want to plant a little garden and be what I once concidered a boring homebody:P

Ah life,I never thought I would admit it,but I am glad you didnt make me an exception and let me stay a child all my life.
